At present, the Central Library has over 34000 volumes of books, 18 periodicals and journals and 5 general dailies. Apart from printed books the college provides the additional more than 6000 e-journals and 300000 e-books by subscribing INFLIBNET-NLIST programme. The library is proud of various gift collections received through the passage of time. Some of them are listed below:

The Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya central library comprises more than 34000 books on different disciplines like Science, Arts, and Commerce.

Reference Books

The Central Library has a rich collection of Reference books such as 24 volumes Encyclopedia Britannica, The Cultural Heritage of India, The Social Science Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of Chemistry, Sardar Patel’s Correspondence, Encyclopedia of Literature, International Encyclopedia of Sociology, and Oxford English Dictionary etc. All reference materials are available on campus use of students, teachers and other library members.

Library subscribes more than 18 periodicals and journals on various disciplines.

E-resources

N-LIST Programme

The College Library is registered member of the N-LIST (National Library and Information services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) Programme of UGC-MHRD. Under this programme the faculty members and students have entitled to access the e-resources remotely. The N-LIST programme offers more than 6150 e-journals and 31,64,309 e-books to the users.

Seminar Libraries

There are separate Seminar libraries for each department. The department maintains the seminar library in their departmental room and its day-to-day functions are looked after by a teacher of the concerned department.

Dr. Sk Basarat Hossain Collection

Late Dr. Sk Basarat Hossain was the Associate professor and Head of the Department of History in Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya, Haripal. Professor Hossain donated his personal collection to the college library for the betterment of education and research. This comprises various books and periodicals on History, Literature, Social Sciences and Humanities. Total numbers of books under this collection are 315.

Swami Vivekananda Collection

The library has some collections on the life and works of the great spiritual personality, Swami Vivekananda. There are 65 books including complete works of Swami Vivekananda in this collection. The library feels proud to house the collection of such a great son of India.

Collection of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)

The library has a collection of books and study materials on the course of Company Secretaries of India. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) of Hooghly branch has provided their study materials and other related books for the student and members of their institute.
